2005-12-13 - 9:49 p.m. One of the things I get to do every three months is audit medical charts, to see how well the clinic staff are doing at practicing the principles of asthma treatment. Today (and tomorrow) is Audit Time. Where's my damn hemlock? The old saw about doctors having terrible handwriting is 100% true. I took Doll out for a longer walk tonight, to go see where the entrance to the gym is, and how long it takes to walk over there. Not long - it only took me 12 minutes. So I'm making moves in the right direction, anyway. I've been working on Christmas cards. Some of them will be late, but it can't be helped. I had the good fortune not only of buying cards on sale after the holiday last year, but also of finding them soon enough that I didn't buy more yet this year. Score! Life's little victories - some littler than others, to be sure. I had a good laugh this morning, listening to NPR. They had a segment on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, which rules on some kinds of the surveillance the FBI is allowed to do. Apparently, they've been thwarting the FBI's desire to request book lists from libraries. They quoted an FBI memo:
"The inability of FBI investigators to use this seemingly effective tool has had a direct and clearly adverse impact on our terrorism cases. While radical militant librarians kick us around, true terrorists benefit from OIPR's failure to let us use the tools given to us." Radical militant librarian?!? Why wasn't I told of this career path? I've missed my calling. Okay, I'm officially too tired to write. ![]()
