2006-03-06 - 2:16 p.m. Blah - I woke up with a sore throat this morning. It was rainy and gloomy this morning, which didn't help the blah feeling. David got some packing done over the weekend, and we did some shopping for things that he'll need to take with him. He's going to be in a different area this time, and I'll be sending lots of care packages for him. He won't be able to get all his fancy vitamins and stuff, and every soldier needs lots of socks and baby wipes and all. It turns out that he's leaving on Saturday, and that the familes are not allowed to go out to the ramp with them while they wait for the plane. This battalion is not especially family-friendly. I think the CO must not like his spouse. The Family Readiness Group is nothing like the previous one we had - they were wonderful, and this one is...not. Fortunately, I don't have to be involved with the FRG, I just have to make sure they have my contact information. Anyway, next Saturday, I'll drop him off at his office, I guess. (That useless weasel CO better let us meet them when they return, that's all I have to say.) I have to find some other AA meetings, in addition to the ones I've been attending. I'm getting mighty sick of seeing and hearing the same four or five people over and over again. I have no doubt that this is me, not them, since I've been listening to them happily for three years, but still, I need something new. I've gotten up and left two meetings in the past three weeks, just because I didn't feel like hearing it. Not good. I was glancing through the weekly alternative paper (such as it is) and noticed an annoucement for a canoe trip in a couple of weeks. I've already registered and paid. Yay, canoes! I'll have to go rummage around in the basement and find my dry bags, to hold my changes of clothing. Paddling = work, and what is comfortably warm in the morning can be miserably hot in the afternoon. I'm looking forward to the spring birding on the Black River.
