2006-03-22 - 8:50 p.m. Got a call from David this evening - it's morning for him. They are in a place with very few frills. The PX is open for business once a week. The computer lab has limited hours, and a slow connection. On the other hand, there's a shortage of high ranking officers, which makes everyone's life better. It was nice to hear from him. He sounds pretty happy. His whole platoon has been loaned out to another company, and they are building building building. There's a bazaar today, I'm sure he'll find time to check that out. He loves to shop, that man. On the way home from work, I went to the PX to get my glasses fixed. (One of the nose pads had fallen off.) The nice young woman did it for free, hurray! Their selection of frames seemed pretty good, and not too expensive. I got their card and one for the optometrist next door, so I can make an appointment. I'm hoping to get back into contact lenses before summer hits. I HATE wearing glasses in the summer. They slide down my nose constantly, it's very annoying. I'm sore - I recently started exercising again, after a long hiatus. I'm not exactly working out at this point, just doing some crunches and walking the dog more. We have dumbbells with different weights, and I could barely lift the 20s, so I switched to 10s to do a few pathetic curls. My abs, such as they are, are very sore from crunches. What I really need to do is get my wide behind to the gym and get back on the elliptical, before my butt slides down the back of my legs. David and I are planning to go to Scotland when he gets his two weeks R&R. (They don't call it that anymore, but it's still good shorthand.) I want to be back in shape by then, because we are going to be getting a lot of exercise over there, walking around. This time, I'm taking a backpack instead of a suitcase. We may even go so far as to do some hiking and birding. Either way, I will need to lose some ballast and gain some muscle. I only have five months, so I must get started!
