2006-05-17 - 2:09 p.m. Last Saturday, I went on the charity walk - thanks to my sponsors, I raised nearly $400. The weather was gorgeous. Afterwards, I planted some flowers and herbs in pots for my front porch. The Canes lost their fourth game that day (I watched it on TV), then won the next on Sunday, to advance to the third round of playoffs. They're playing the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, and Dad #3 and I will be there. I bought the tickets as soon as they were available, but before they announced the schedule, and the damn game is at the same time as my AA home group's anniversary party. I paid too much for those tickets to miss the game, though, so I'll have to miss the party. All I can say is they better damn well win. I have a new pigeon. (That is, someone asked me to be her sponsor.) I met her on Monday night at the meeting, and gave her my phone number. She called me at midnight, for god's sake, and we talked until 1:30 am. Yesterday she called at a more civilized hour. She is new and willing right now. We'll see how it goes. It's very helpful for me, anyway. When I try to explain something to someone else, I understand it better. Talking about AA helps to keep me centered in the program. I went to the gym on Monday. I worked on the elliptical for a while, then worked triceps on one machine and biceps on another. My arms are very sore, but that's what happens when I don't go to the gym for long periods. Yesterday, I took Doll out for a nice long walk in the woods, maybe about 4 miles. Today I plan to go to the gym again. I have just got to lose this weight, it feels terrible. Happy birthday to Mike Napierski and Margaret Arneson, wherever you are!
