2006-12-19 - 4:38 p.m. I spent most of the day on one little nit-picky task. Boring! Oh, well, at least it's done. Someone recommended that I put a tennis ball under my desk, to roll under my foot while sitting for long periods. It seems to help a little. Stupid foot. The party ain't happening - I have to get some things done at home. I do plan to stop by the PX to see if they have an elusive present for a friend of mine, and then I'll go to the commissary to get a few things, but after that: knit! bake! write cards! Not in that order, I guess. Here's a charity idea, if you're in need of one. I regularly read a blog by Stephanie Pearl McPhee, a.k.a. the Yarn Harlot. She has a link on her website for knitters to make a contribution to Doctors Without Borders (or Médecins Sans Frontières), which does great work, all over the world. She formed Knitters Without Borders (or Tricoteuses Sans Frontières). This link explains why she chose this group and what it means to her. I donated today, and if you'd care to, the link's on the TSF page. (I'm pretty sure you don't have to be a knitter to donate.) They had about $120,000 raised, and she asked on Friday that we dig a little and give as much as we could. As of this afternoon, another $80K has been raised. As Stephanie says, don't mess with knitters. There are a lot of us.
