2006-12-21 - 11:36 p.m. Today was good - I left work after lunch, and got some more baking done. I also got some wrapping done. Then I watched part of the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and got some more knitting done. I stopped part way through and went to have dinner with our friends. Their son and daughter in law are in town, and I had presents for everyone. Despite a strong desire to sit there and enjoy the company, I had made plans with another friend and lit out for my meeting. I'm glad I got there, because I saw two other friends on their last night here (they move to Colorado tomorrow), and another guy that I haven't seen in about six months. Nice. Then I came home and finished the movie, which was delightful (and, of course, did some more knitting - it never ends). The movie stars Koward Keel, a person I'd never heard of until I started watching these 50s era musicals. He's a big ol' boy with a big deep voice, and he's always paired up with some teensy tiny little soprano. The trilling can be hard to take, frankly. He and Kathryn Grayson starred in Show Boat and Kiss Me Kate, and I actually turned the sound down in one or two places. Tomorrow, I have to finish up the wrapping, then pack up the car to go to Durham. Hey, at least the baking is done!
