A cloudy, mild, rainy day. After spending the morning visitng the relatives and playing with the dogs, I drove home. Then I went to see some friends for their New Year's Day open house. They made some delicious soups (I tried two) and had some crusty bread to go with it. Plus, they have cats, and one of them draped himself over me and held me down for hours. When the dander got too much, I came back home.
An excellent first day of the year: family, friends, animals. All I need is my husband, and that's just going to have to wait until March.
