2007-01-04 - 9:47 p.m. No catfish for me today - I went out with a group of people to celebrate a friend's birthday. We went to Fire Mountain, I think it's called, which I would have to call an upscale Golden Corral. There was a slight break in the healthy-eating-and-more-exercise plan. I bellied up to the trough and scarfed up some serious crap. Fiddle dee dee, tomorrow's another day, that sort of thing. Got a call from the in-laws tonight. We've been talking to them about moving here to NC for a couple of years. They live in a very small town now, where they have to drive an hour to go to the doctor. The people there are friendly and helpful, but it's not like having family nearby. My mother-in-law and I get along famously. She's very independent, self-sufficient, funny, and smart. She and my mom get along well, too. My father-in-law married my mother-in-law about 15 years ago. He's not really a dad to my husband, but he's family and he's part of us. I made sure to tell him so when I talked to him tonight. He doesn't presume, and it made him happy to hear it from me. Tonight they told me they've put their house on the market. They're looking either in this town or in the town where my parents live. This is a good development, and also a big change. It's impossible to say when it'll happen or how, but I'm glad to know that they're willing to do it. David says he has the world's greatest in-laws, but I say I do. We've just agreed not to fight over it. Heh.
