2007-01-05 - 10:05 p.m. The catfish was good. Of course, hunger is the best sauce. I refrained from snacking today, so by the time supper came around, I was more than ready. I watched Howl's Moving Castle tonight. This is another Hayao Miyazaki film - the same director who made Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. It's just wonderful. If you remember the first time you saw a real full-length feature like Snow White or Bambi - the amazing animation and detail, the wonderful inventiveness of the whole thing - that is what watching Miyazaki's films is like. Part of the amazement is cultural, I'm sure - the creatures, monsters, and sprites are very different from our European folk tale counterparts. But they are beautiful and utterly absorbing and boy did I enjoy it. I have more of his films in my Netflix queue. At the rate I'm going, I'll never get through the list I have - I think it's near 40. (Mostly old musicals and comedies.) I see about one a week, if I have nothing else going on. Tomorrow, I must go to the basement and sew. I have a new dress and underdress to sew for an SCA event next weekend. The underdress is almost done, but the other one is in pieces, folded up in a bag. I have to iron them, then figure out how they go together. I'll worry about hemming when I get to it. I have a plastic dress form display, and if needed, I can put it on a stepstool, hang the dresses on it, and go from there. I've done it before. As we say in AA, where there's a will, there's an alcoholic. Heh.
