Dress update: I did in fact have to take out the shoulder seams to turn it right side out. Sewing them back together so they look right just ain't gonna happen, so I'll overlap them and stick a button on there or something. What a crappy attempt at a pattern. I do have one possible thing I can do to make the bloody thing look a little better, and I'll try that later in the week. After getting the thing right side out, I pinned up the hem on that, then pinned the hem on the underdress. That was plenty of sewing fun for the evening.
By the way, the vendor I contacted will be at the event, and I went ahead and ordered a dress. Considering how this one is coming along, I don't regret it a bit. I consider it a backup, because the one I'm making isn't looking too hot. At least I'll have one decent garment to wear. (I hate velvet.)
I woke up at 3:30 a.m. and could not get back to sleep. I finally gave up after an hour and got up. I read all my usual webpages while drinking my coffee, then took the dog out for a nice long walk around 6 a.m., still pitch dark outside. My butt is dragging, but here it is almost ten and I'm still up. I bet I sleep tonight!
